Ramban mishap: Construction Company likely to face action | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, May 21: With the recovery of bodies of all ten workers trapped in debris, rescue operation is completed. “All 10 bodies are recovered and families have been informed. Five of 10 bodies are from West Bengal. This operation is complete. Bodies shifted to hospital”, Deputy Commissioner Ramban Mussarat Islam said. Sources said that with the registration of FIR, the company engaged in the widening of the Jammu-Srinagar national highway is likely to face the action. Superintendent of Police (SP), Ramban Mohita Sharma has already made it clear that FIR has been launched in the matter. Compensation will be given by the company. The rescue operation at the Ramban site in which was put on hold late Friday evening after a fresh landslide, has resumed on Saturday. Reports said that authorities have resumed the debris clearing operation at the landslide site. The number of machinery and technical people has been increased to finish the work as soon as possible. The mouth of an under-construction tunnel was hit by a landslide on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway in the Ramban district. Deputy Commissioner Ramban Mussarat Islam clarified that it was not a tunnel collapsed, but the mouth of the tunnel was hit by a landslide. “As clarified by the National Highway Authority of India it is informed that there is no tunnel collapse near Khooni Nallah. A slide occurred on the mouth of adit tunnel to T4 on Thursday night under which a labour component of concessionaire co was working. Operation continues”, the Deputy Commissioner twitted. |
