3 bovine smugglers arrested, 34 animals rescued by police

JAMMU, May 26: Intensifying its drive against the bovine smugglers and their propagators, District Police Samba under the overall supervision of SSP Samba, Dr.Abhishek Mahajan, IPS successfully foiled 03 consecutive attempts to smuggle bovines during the intervening night of 25/26-05-2022 and rescued 34 bovines and arrested 03 smugglers in the jurisdiction of Police Station Ghagwal.
The details of bovine smuggling bids foiled by police party of PS Ghagwal led by SHO PS Ghagwal Inspr. Vijay Verma under the supervision of Dy.SP Hqrs.Samba, Mohd. Usman are as:-
Acting on an information received from reliable sources regarding illegal transportation of bovines, a Police party of PS Ghagwal at Naka Tapyal, intercepted a truck bearing Registration No. JK19/8326 for checking.
During checking the vehicle, 13 bovine were found laden inside the said Truck which were tied in a cruel manner and were being transported without proper permission.
Both the accused persons namely (1) Raja Qayoom S/O Abdul Qayoom R/O Khairkoot Tehsil Banihal, District Ramban and (2) Hilal Ahmed S/O Mohd Yassien R/O Chamalwas Tehsil Banihal District Ramban have been arrested.
In this connection, a case FIR No. 78/2022 U/S 188 IPC, 11 PCA Act has been registered in Police Station Ghagwal.
A Police party of PS Ghagwal rescued 12 bovines at Naka Tapyal, Ghagwal which were being transported illegally in a truck bearing Regd. No. JK19/7524 with the arrest of accused driver namely Javid Ahmed Malik S/O Abdul Suban Malik R/O Chamalwas Tehsil Banihal District Ramban
In this regard, a case FIR No. 79/2022 U/S 188 IPC, 11 PCA Act stands registered at PS Ghagwal and investigation started.
Similarly, a Police party of PS Ghagwal rescued 09 more bovines near Nonath, Ghagwal which were being transported illegally in a Tipper bearing Registration No. JK12/6754.
In this regard, a case FIR No. 80/2022 U/S 188 IPC, 11 PCA Act stands registered at PS Ghagwal and investigation started.
All the bovines mentioned in above incidents were rescued and shifted to safer place. The vehicles used for transporting the bovines were also seized.
