SOTTO organises awareness session on organ donation | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, May 26: An awareness session on human organ donation was organised by State Organ and Tissue Transplant Organization (SOTTO) J&K in collaboration with Govt. Higher Secondary School, Mansar of district Udhampur on Thursday. During the programme the students were made aware of the National Organ Transplant Program (NOTP) which is being run by SOTTO J&K in the Superspeciality Hospital Jammu. They were made aware of Organ Donation, Brain Stem Death and the whole donation procedure. They were informed about the legal procedure involved in organ donation. Many participants show their interest and become an organ donor. Stories of many organ donors were also shared to motivate them. Irfan Ahmed Lone, Transplant Coordinator, SOTTO J&K was the resource person in the programme. He said that someone who is brain dead due to some brain injury, brain hemorrhage or some other reason, organs and Tissues of his body still remain alive and can save up to many lives after donation. Charu Anand, Principal, GHSS Mansar while pledging her organs motivated everyone to donate their organs after death. 40 participants pledged organs for donation. Rajni khajuria, lecturer physics made students aware of deaths caused due to shortage of organs and need of organ donation in country. The whole program was anchored by Krishan Dutt, lecturer Physics and attended by Sarpanches, Panches of the area, staff and students. |
