RJ Tushar was the guest of honour. The program started with the welcome address by Anchal Singh and comparing was done by Farzana Kouser. The open mic was started by NSS PO Dr. Deepali Mahajan. In her address she emphasized the need of changing mindset and breaking the stereotypes. Together we can fight with gender bias. Gender sensitization is the teaching of gender sensitivity and encouragement of behavior modification through raising awareness of gender equality concerns. The goal of gender sensitization is to address issues in gender equality and encourage participants to pursue solutions. RJ Tushar urged the students of College to include transgenders into the main stream. Gender bias refers to a preference for one gender over another. It is often based on prejudices and stereotypes. Gender bias can be conscious, and something someone is aware that they have. Gender bias can also be unconscious, or something a person is not aware of. This is known as implicit bias. To break out of an entrenched stereotype is not easy. Part of it involves knowing, or researching what others believed us to be in the past, what they believe now and what they see for the future. The aim of organizing this event was to open the minds of young students to make them speak to help them raise voice and to stand for each other as a society. This was followed by Personality Development session where students performed their talents and spoke on various issues. The whole event was organized by Aaghav Arora. |
