DC Jammu inaugurates Art Exhibition at General Zorawar Singh Auditorium

JAMMU, May 30: The Institute of Music & Fine Arts, University of Jammu today organized its Annual Day Function and an Art Exhibition here in the Brig. Rajinder Singh Auditorium & General Zorawar Singh Auditorium.
Deputy Commissioner Jammu Avny Lavasa was the Chief Guest at the Art Exhibition, while Prof, R.D. Sharma was the Chief Guest in the Musical program and reputed writer from Canada Dr. Taqi Abidi was the Guest of Honour and SSP Mohan Lal was the Special Guest.
Deputy Commissioner inaugurated the Art Exhibition in presence of Principal IMFA Prof. Shohab Inayat Malik.
Speaking on the occasion, the Deputy Commissioner appreciated the works of Fine Arts like painting, sculpture & applied Art.
She described Jammu as a land of Artists which has produced artists of International repute like Pt. Shiv Kumar Sharma, Ustad Allah Rakha, Zakir Hussain, Noor Jahan, K.L. Sehgal & others.
She said that this Annual Exhibition will help the budding artists to attract people towards their work and also interact with the senior artists of the state.
She further said that the Art Exhibition plays a key role in shaping the imagination and developing in-depth understanding about the shortcomings in their art work and handling the criticism to develop their works aesthetically.
Deputy Commissioner, Jammu was also honoured by a portrait and a painting on this occasion by the organizers. During the music program, the students of IMFA performed classical items like Tabla, Sitar, Violin & vocal items as well as Kathak Dance.
The performances of the students were highly appreciated by the Audience particularly the Item presented by the Vocal Department & Kathak Department.
