Shooting down terror drone averts threat to Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra!

Jammu, May 30: The shooting down of terror drone in Jammu region has averted a major threat on the upcoming Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra as the terrorists were planning to use the payload of bombs to target the pilgrimage, the Early Times learnt from reliable sources.
On May 29, at around 9:00 AM alert cops of Jammu and Kashmir Police spotted a drone carrying explosives flying from the Pakistani side into India territory in Kathua district’s Hariya Chak village. The black hexacopter loaded with sticky bombs and grenades was instantly shot down and seized by the cops.
Official sources said the intelligence agencies have got credible inputs that the consignment of bombs was to be shifted to Kashmir for targeting the annual Shri Amarnath Ji pilgrimage, scheduled to commence in June. While the security forces are on the alert, Yatra already faces threat from terror outfits like TRF, which has issued statements spewing venom against the upcoming pilgrimage. “Credible inputs coupled with pattern of terror attacks in the recent past suggest that the payload could have been shifted to Kashmir for deadly use but our swift jawans have foiled the nefarious designs of the enemy country,” said a senior official on the condition of anonymity.
The cops had promptly fired some one dozen bullets to bring the down drone carrying around 20 Kgs of payload in the form of sticky bombs and grenades.
Senior Superintendent of Police Romesh Kotwal while talking to media hasn’t ruled out complicity of Pakistan Army in using drones to deliver explosive material into Indian territory. “Following inputs about drone activity in Talli Hariya Chak, a police party from Rajbagh police station was rushed to the area... We’ve already kickstarted anti tunneling and anti-drone drives in this area,” the SSP said.
The sticky bombs, first used by Taliban in 2005 against American forces, are a new worry for the security forces in Jammu and Kashmir.
Sticky bombs or Magnet-attached Improvised Explosive Devices can be easily planted on vehicles and detonated using a remote control.
The security forces are already probing if such bombs were used in Jammu and Kashmir in the last few months.
A senior official however told the Early Times that the security forces were fully prepared to foil any terror designs and that foolproof security would be offered for the upcoming Yatra.
