Kashmiri Pandits are pushed to re-live horror of 90s era of terror: Kejriwal | | | AGENCIES NEW DELHI, June 1: Raising concern over the rise in targeted killings of Kashmiri Pandits, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said on Wednesday that the community is forced to relive the horror of the 1990s era of terrorism and no one is doing anything to stop it. The atrocities of the 1990s era are again haunting the Kashmiri Pandits. They are being targeted and killed in their houses, offices and roads while no one is doing anything to stop it," Kejriwal said. Hitting out at the Centre for restricting the community when they protested against the killings, Kejriwal said their voices and dissent are being muzzled by the central government. "When Kashmiri Pandits try to raise their voice against the terror they are forced to face, they are locked up in their homes and colonies. 16 people from the community have been killed this year alone," he added. Meanwhile, the Delhi CM appealed to the Centre to provide high-level security to the community in the valley while also extending his support for the welfare of the Kashmiri Pandits "We can not let the era of 90s terror return to the valley. Delhi government will support by all means to the Centre in whatever capacity we are asked to aid in the welfare of Kashmiri Pandits," he stated. Kejriwal has been vocal about the targeted killings of the Kashmiri Pandits in the valley. Two weeks ago, the Aam Aadmi Party's national convenor had also asked for the safety and rehabilitation of the community members in the valley in the wake of a government employee, Rahul Bhat, who was murdered in Budgam. |
