Rural area schools rendered defunct, govt in deep slumber: Harsh Dev | Mass protest outside CEO Udhampur | | Early Times Report UDHAMPUR, June 13: "The acute deficiency of teaching staff in various rural area schools of District Udhampur has adversely impacted upon the education of the children enrolled in the said schools with none to take note of the grave situation. The concerned villages through their local representatives have been repeatedly representing for making up the staff deficiency in the affected schools but the authorities concerned had failed to awaken forcing the people to gherao the CEO office at Udhampur. Earlier the schools had remained closed for around two years due to corona hype and now the non-provision of adequate staff had caused huge loss to academic activity especially in the remote and far-flung area schools". This was stated by Harsh Dev Singh, Former Education Minister and senior AAP leader while holding a massive demonstration at Udhampur today. The protestors raised slogans against the education Deptt and sought provision of adequate staff in the affected schools without any delay. Speaking on the occasion Mr. Singh said that staff deficiency had hit the majority of the rural area schools but it was more pronounced and most conspicuous in the schools falling in the Blocks of Latti, Chenani, Dudu-Basantgarh and Ghordi. Quoting few examples, Mr. Singh pointed out that in HSS Basantgarh 13 posts are unfilled; HSS Dhanas (Chenani) 15 posts are vacant; HS Ponara 7 posts vacant; HSS Khaned 13 posts vacant; HS Balota upper 7 posts vacant; MS Pattangarh and MS Bhugtarian has only two teachers each; HS Parla Chapper 12 posts vacant; PS Khanstali, PS Kautri and PS Nag-Chowki have one teacher each; MS Gharian Kalan 3 posts vacant; MS Kulsar 3 posts vacant and so on and so forth. He said that during his tenure as Education Minister a minimum of 25 posts were provided in each HSS, 10 in HS, 6 in Middle schools and three in every Primary school. Lambasting the education authorities for its criminal apathy towards the rural education areas, Mr. Singh said that large scale attachment and whimsical transfers had led to the chaotic situation in such remote area schools thereby jeopardizing the careers of affected students. He further expressed his dismay over the new govt policy providing for a complete ban on appointment of teachers for 10 years. He sought revival of the RET scheme so as to provide a sigh of relief to the affected populace of rural areas. |
