Omar talks weight-loss, courtesy Nitin Gadkari | Pass Wo Aane Lage Zarra Zarra! | | Early Times Report
Jammu, June 13: Even as the news has gone viral that union minister, Nitin Gadkari promised to release Rs 1,000 crore for development work for each kilo lost by a Bharatiya Janata Party MP from Madhya Pradesh, former Chief Minister and National Conference President, Omar Abdullah has joined the chorus on weight loss, hinting at improvement of ties with the BJP. The former Chief Minister, who was also a BJP ally in the past, said: “If only I was a MP, I’d have met Gadkari ji for the same offer before I set about losing the 13-14 kilos that I’ve lost.” Recently in Madhya Pradesh's Ujjain, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP was on a mission to shed weight after Gadkari promised to release Rs 1,000 crore for development work for each kilo lost for fitness. "He(Gadkari) had told me on stage that for each kilo I lose, I will earn ₹1000 crore for development works in Ujjain," Anil Firojiya told reporters adding he was still working on the challenge. "I have lost 15 kilos so far… will reduce it further and request him to release the promised funds," the BJP MP added. If he achieves the goal, Forijiya can ask for ₹15,000 crore fund. This fitness deal seems to have given the National Conference a scope to get into talks with BJP leadership somehow. The NC BJP relations have been facing hiccups for the last few months as some of the party leaders were quizzed by the investigation agencies into cases linked to corruption during their regime. The challenge to lose weight, on the other hand, started in February, 2022 and links development funds to fitness. Gadkari was in Madhya Pradesh to lay foundation stones for some projects when he threw up the challenge. Firojiya, according to a news reports, said that he weighed 127 kilograms in February and now he is 15 kilograms lighter. Omar Abdullah on the other hand claims to have reduced around 14 KGs. |
