CII organizes session on GST; Five-year journey of tax transformation

JAMMU, June 20: On completion of five years of this significant reform, CII J&K organized an interactive session with Mahesh Rustogi, GST Commissioner was the Guest of Honour. The session was organized to celebrate the 5 years journey of GST transformation.
Addressing the session Mahesh Rustogi, GST Commissioner emphasized GST as the biggest indirect tax reform and spoke about the major federal reform measures undertaken in the country which have helped create much needed unified decision making and one market in the nation. The most commendable aspect is the consultative way adopted by the government while taking corrective measures to ensure the effective implementation of GST.
"Earlier welcoming the Chief Guest and delegates Ehsan Javaid, Chairman CII J&K spoke about the importance of GST and its tremendous role in boosting the economic ecosystem in India and J&K. "Javaid mentioned that CII is celebrating the 5 years of GST rollout by means of conducting sessions across India.
Ayush Sawhney, gave a presentation about the various benefits of GST and issues and suggestions from the industry at large. Anshal Gulati spoke about the issues faced by the food processing industry due to the inverted duty structure.
Khurshid Dar, Head CII J&K suggested that the GST department should conduct awareness sessions regularly across J&K and handhold startups and small businesses of J&K.
The session was well attended by CII J&K members from across J&K and Other Members of the Industry. In the end, Javaid Presented a vote of thanks to all the participants and speakers of the session.
