Early Times Report JAMMU, June 20: To mark the significance of International Yoga Day (IYD) 2022, the NSS Unit (KHIDMAT) of GDC Vijaypur under the flagship banner of Azadi ka Amrut Mahotsav begins with day one of the Two-Days Workshop on the theme 'Yoga for Humanity'. The event was an endeavour to highlight the importance of Yoga and its role in keeping the body and mind in perfect health. NSS Volunteers and other students participated in the event with great zeal, enthusiasm and fervor; relishing the event, vital information dissipated and enriching ideas shared and put forth. Dr. Pinky Sharma, the resource person, briefed the staff, students and NSS Volunteers of the College about the importance of Yoga in sports and hence humanity. She added that it is not just about exercise, but about discovering the oneness with self, the world and nature. It was followed by presentations of students on how yoga helps in reducing stress and anxiety, besides providing physical relaxation. In the practice session, various yoga asanas were demonstrated by Dr. Pinky Sharma and performed by the students and staff of the College. The event was conducted under the able guidance of Prof. (Dr.) Sangeeta Sudan, Principal of the College. She apprised that the theme Yoga for Humanity must be followed vigorously as yoga embodies the unity of mind and body; thought and action; restraint and fulfillment; harmony between man and nature; a holistic approach to health and well-being. The event was coordinated by Dr. Shittal Sharma, Convenor NSS and Dr. Naseem Chowdhary, NSS PO and organized by Prof. Anil Bhagat and Prof. Poonam Kundan. Certificates were awarded to all the participants. |
