Police foils bovine smuggling bid | | | Early Times Report AKHNOOR, July 7: Akhnoor police under S.H.O Hilal Azhar foiled a bovine smuggling bid and arrested two bovine smugglers. During checking, a rashly driven vehicle approached Khugga naka. Alert police party stopped the vehicle after hectic efforts and was found transporting bovines illegally. Two persons who revealed their names as (1) Mohd Hanief S/o Shukar Din R/o Tharar Balli Nallah District Udhampur (2) Mohd Farooq S/o Chirag Din R/o Balli Nallah District Udhampur were arrested on spot while the third, whose name was revealed as Maroof S/o Abdul Gani R/o Beli Charana Jammu, ran away taking advantage of darkness. The said smugglers were found illegally transporting 18 bovines towards Rajouri in Truck bearing registation No. JK02AT-0665 without permission from DM Jammu. Further, the bovines were found to be tied mercilessly and without adhering to the provisions of Transportation of Animal Act. Accordingly Case FIR No. 196/2022 U/s 279/188/34 IPC, 11PCA Act , 50,52,54,56 Transportation of Animal Act 1978 and relevant provisions of MV act was registered and investigation was set into motion. The arrest and seizure was made under the supervision of SDPO Akhnoor Varun Jandial and under the guidance of SP Rural Sanjay Sharma. |
