Udhampur, July 7: Two persons were killed and 54 others injured, some critically, in a tragic road accident at Keya area of hilly Ramnagar district in Jammu and Kashmir Union Territory on Thursday when the bus they were travelling in skidded off the road and landed in a deep gorge. About 14 of the injured were stated to be critical and were under treatment at District Hospital Udhampur while he 30 others were being treated at Sub District Hospital Ramnagar. Sources informed that the ill fated bus bearing registration number JK14D-5050 was carrying a marriage party and was moving from Gundhian area of Ramnager to Chattrari. When it reached Keya area the driver lost control over the vehicle which resulted in the tragic mishap in which the roof of the bus was blown off. When contacted, SSP Udhampur Vinod kumar said that police swung into action promptly on getting news about the accident and shifted the injured to the nearest sub district hospital ramnager for treatment. Immediately after the mishap, the locals started rescue operation and were later on joined by cops from the nearby police post. He also informed that the injured also included some children. The bus was carrying about 56 persons of a marriage party of which 54 were injured and 2 were killed. 16 of the injured shifted to District Hospital Udhampur, 1 shifted GMC Jammu, while he 39 others were being treated at Sub District Hospital Ramnagar. |
