Court directs corporation to comply with judgement within 6 weeks | Pension benefits to retired J&K RTC employees | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, Aug 12: The High Court of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh granted ‘final’ opportunity of six weeks to the government to comply with the judgment and pay pensionary benefits to 389 retired employees of J&K Road Transport Corporation (J&K RTC). Justice Sanjeev Kumar while hearing contempt petition, further ordered that failure to submit compliance report the ACS Finance, MD SRTC and Transport commission appear in persons. The court was hearing a contempt plea filed by All J&K Workers’ Union SRTC seeking implementation of judgment passed by the single bench of the court whereby it had directed the Finance department to consider within four months the request of 389 retired employees of J&K SRTC with regard to their pensionary benefits. The petitioners are mostly sweepers, helpers, cleaners, bus washers, assistant fitters, fitters, conductors and drivers. Allowing the plea, the court had held the petitioners entitled to all the retirement benefits, including pension and gratuity on the analogy of the employees of the corporation who were employees of the erstwhile government transport undertaking (GTU) and had opted for the service of the corporation and also on the analogy of their counterparts in the JKI and other corporations. |
