Early Times Report RAJOURI, Sept 6: One day refresher training was organized for Part Time Enumerators of Sample Registration System (SRS) appointed in district Poonch and Rajouri today at DC Office Conference Hall, Rajouri. The Sample Registration System was initiated by the Registrar General, India in 1964-1965, on a pilot basis, in a few selected states. It currently covers almost the entire country. SRS in India is one of the largest demographic surveys in the world covering about 8.2 million sample population. It is carried out by the Office of Registrar General & Census Commissioner, India, New Delhi with an objective of providing reliable annual estimates of birth rate, death rate, infant mortality rate and various other fertility and mortality indicators. SRS has been serving as the main source of information on fertility and mortality both at the State and National levels, from 1971 onwards. The training session was inaugurated by Pawan Parihar, Additional District Development Commissioner along with Sachin Dev Singh Jamwal, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Rajouri and training imparted by Jatinder Kumar, Assistant Director and Sanjay Kumar, SIG-II of Directorate of Census Operations, J & K, Jammu under the supervision of Deputy Commissioner, Rajouri, Vikas Kundal. |
