Border firing: Befitting reply by soldiers brings Pak commanders on table | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Sept 6: First time after February 25, 2021, after refreshed cease-fire, troops of Border Security Security (BSF) gave a befitting reply to Pakistan for its misdemeanours. Important to mention here that Union Home Minister Amit Shah has clearly said that if Pakistan resorts to firing, we will definitely give a befitting reply to them. India will give a “befitting reply” to the repeated ceasefire violations in Jammu and Kashmir by Pakistan. On Tuesday morning tension flared up all along the International Border (IB) in R S Pura and Arnia sectors of Jammu and Kashmir’s Jammu district after Pakistan Rangers resorted to unprovoked firing on a patrol party of the Border Security Force (BSF). Pakistani Rangers resorted to firing on the BSF patrol party near Arnia on early Tuesday morning. BSF troops retaliated effectively and gave a befitting reply to firing from the other side. Firing continued for half an hour as both sides exchanged bullets before calm prevailed on the border. After getting a befitting reply, Pakistani authorities immediately connected local BSF officers and convened a meeting to ease tension. A flag meeting was held by the BSF and Pakistani Rangers on Tuesday in which both sides agreed to maintain restraint on the International Border, BSF said. The meeting came after the Border Security Force gave a befitting reply to an unprovoked ceasefire violation by the Pakistani Rangers at the International Border in the Arnia sector of Jammu. “A coy (company) commander level flag meeting was held between BSF and Pak Rangers at 01.45 p.m. on the border. The issue of unprovoked firing was discussed and both sides agreed to exercise maximum restraint on the border. Both sides agreed to respect the existing norms in future. Meeting ended in cordial atmosphere,” the BSF said. “On September 6 morning, the alert BSF Jammu troops gave a befitting reply to the unprovoked firing by Pakistani rangers on BSF patroling party in Arnia Sector,” the spokesman said. There was no loss or injury to BSF troops in the exchange of fire, the BSF said. On February 25, 2021, India and Pakistan announced to strictly adhere to a ceasefire along the Line of Control (LoC) and International Border (IB) in J&K. The director generals of military operations of India and Pakistan reviewed the situation along the Line of Control (Loc) and all other sectors and agreed upon achieving mutually beneficial and sustainable peace along the borders since then not a single shot has been fired along the IB and 744-km LoC thereby bringing relief to the hapless villagers on either side of the border. It’s for the first time since February 2021 that Indian and Pakistani exchanges fire on the border.
