Some BJP leaders to face action after party’s defeat in Kathua MC election | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Sept 12: BJP has constituted a team to find out the reasons for the party’s defeat in the election of the president of Kathua Municipal Council despite having a comfortable majority. Although no official announcement has been made regarding the fact-finding team, sources said that the party has started the process secretly to identify those who were involved in cross-voting. Sources said that party leadership has taken serious note of cross-voting so it has been decided that action will be taken against those who will be found as culprits. On Saturday BJP got a shocking defeat in the election of the Kathua Municipal council president. The BJP has 13 councilors in the Kathua Municipal Council with 21 councilors, but the party's candidate Premnath Dogra could get only eight votes. Former minister Lal Singh's brother and Dogra Swabhiman Sangathan Party (DSSP) leader Rajinder Singh Babbi won the election with 12 votes. It is interesting that Babbi, who won the by-election, is the only councilor of DSSP in the Municipal Council, while the number of councilors supporting his party including his wife was three. One vote in the poll is declared invalid. Elections were necessitated after Naresh Sharma was asked to resign as president after his purported audio went viral. |
