Mankotia spills beans | | | Senior politician from Udhampur, Balwant Singh Mankotia has exposed Aam Aadmi Party (AAP’s) anti-Jammu agenda. The firebrand leader after being expelled from the party spoke about how the AAP leadership prevented him from joining the celebrations on Maharaja Hari Singh’s birthday as this year the occasion was celebrated with fervor and enthusiasm due to the government conceding to the demand of Jammu people to declare a holiday on the late Maharaja’s birthday. The AAP had arrived on political scenario of Jammu region with a bang and had made tall promises to the people of Jammu. Soon after the AAP came to Jammu, many people had predicted that it would emerge as an alternative for Congress and would make its survival difficult. But within a short span of time the AAP balloon stands punctured as the leaders who had joined the party with big hopes have said goodbye to the party. There were reports that many leaders from Jammu region despite repeated requests couldn’t meet the Delhi chief minister and AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal. The APP top leaders maintaining distance from the Jammu leaders has disappointed them and they are regretting their decision about joining the party. Veteran Congress leader, Ghulam Nabi Azad, saying goodbye to the Grand Old Party of the country and launching his own party in Jammu region has made things more difficult for the AAP. Azad’s emergence on the political scenario of J&K has added yet another dimension to the politics in J&K. People know Azad more than Kejriwal and there is every possibility about them getting more inclined towards Azad’s political party. The present scenario indicates that AAP may not find many takers in Jammu region. In Kashmir it has no base so considering it as a political formation that can play a role in J&K politics and elections in coming days is asking for too much. The AAP is just one among the many political parties in J&K there is nothing special about. Mankotia’s expulsion could be the beginning of many other leaders, who joined the AAP during the past few months, saying goodbye to the party. The AAP may not find it easy to keep its flock together and contest the forthcoming assembly elections in J&K. |
