Udhampur blasts: Bomb planted inside bus, on upper shelf’ | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Sept 30: In a major breakthrough in the twin blasts in Udhampur, the investigators have learnt that at least one of the explosives was planted inside the bus on the upper shelf –hinting that the terrorist had boarded the vehicle and left before triggering the device. Sources said the Jammu and Kashmir Police, which is probing the twin blasts that rocked the Udhampur town on September 27 and 28 in a span of eight hours, has got clinching evidence that bomb was planted right inside one of the buses whereas the details about the findings of the other incident are awaited. A senior official who spoke to the Early Times on the condition of anonymity said the explosive device, it’s believed, to have been kept on the upper shelf where the passengers usually keep their belongings during the travel. “One thing looks clear that the bomb was not attached to the outside of the vehicle as could be done in case of a sticky bomb but that it was an improvised devise that was kept inside the bus which simply means that the person who had planted the bomb had boarded it. The impact of the blast on the upper side of the bus only explains that,” said the official. Reiterating that it could be the handiwork of the Lashkar –e-Taiba module, the official said the terrorist or a group of them may have boarded the bus enroute and after placing the explosives got down before the vehicle arrived at the bus stand in Udhampur where the blast took place. “They may have de-boarded the bus before it reached the bus stand,” said the official adding that the module behind the terror strikes would be busted soon. “We are working on some leads which cannot be made public but one thing is clear that the terror module will be busted soon,” said the official. The official appealed the people to be extra-cautious about the unidentified belongings lying anywhere be it in public transport or public places. “We have to fight and defeat such terror designs with the public support and together we can do it better. Though people don’t need to panic, being extra cautious will be even wiser for the concerned citizens” said the official. |
