Early Times Report JAMMU, Oct 8: Better road connectivity is a vital component of socio-economic development and all road projects in Jammu and Kashmir shall be completed within their set timeframes. This was stated by Former Legislator and senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Vikram Randhawa while interacting with residents of Brahaman Mohalla in Ward Number 5 of Chowadhi here today. He expressed gratitude to Minister for Road Transport & Highways in the Government of India (MoRTH) Nitin Gadkari for sanctioning the project for development of Jakh (Vijaypur)-Kunjwani section of NH-44 to 6-lane Expressway standards as part of the Delhi-Amritsar-Katra Expressway including development of Kunjwani to 4th Tawi Bridge section of NH-144A to four-lane NH standards at the revised cost estimate of Rs.1917.32 cr. under Bharatmala Pariyojana in the UT of Jammu & Kashmir on Hybrid Annuity Mode. "Once completed, the stretch would boost connectivity to Jammu Airport", Randhawa said, adding that these projects are the road of J&K's destiny that will accelerate the development, meet aspirations of people and facilitate ease of living. "Strong road connectivity is the vital component of the socio-economic development of any region. All major road/highway projects under execution in J&K shall be completed within the set timeframes to facilitate the trade and smooth movement of the public", Randhawa said and stressed on timely maintenance of highway stretches, especially those with high frequency of transportation. He also discussed about the implementation of the Pradhan Mantri Gramin Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir. He said that proper healthcare facility, education and economic activities will reach the masses with the availability of roads, Randhawa added. "The remote circles, villages and areas of our Union Territory need to be road connected," he said, adding that the "PMGSY is the path through which it can be done.
