Nights get colder in J&K-Ladakh, Drass records -10.7C | | | Early Times Report
Srinagar, Nov 12: Even as weather remains dry, the minimum temperature continues to drop across the union territories of Jammu Kashmir and Ladakh. The Meteorological (MeT) department on Saturday said Drass in Ladakh was the coldest with a minimum temperature recorded at minus 10.7 degrees Celsius. The night temperature in Leh was minus 8.3 and Kargil minus 6.2 degrees Celsius. Kashmir's two tourist resorts of Gulmarg in Baramulla district and Pahalgam in Anantnag district continued to freeze. While Gulmarg recorded a minimum temperature of minus 4 degrees Celsius, the night temperature in Pahalgam was minus 3.7 degrees Celsius. The night temperature in Kupwara, Shopian and Bandipora remained below freezing point. Srinagar recorded a minimum temperature of 1.2 degrees Celsius. The minimum temperature in Jammu was recorded at 10.2 degrees Celsius. The dry spell is expected for the next 24 hours in Kashmir. The maximum temperatures are forecast to be below normal in some areas, weather officials said. There is a possibility that a fresh Western Disturbance may affect Kashmir from Sunday evening onward, they added. |
