ANTF arrests drug peddler, seizes contraband

Jammu, Nov 17: The Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) Jammu arrested a drug peddler and recovered a huge quantity of contraband substances from his possession.
In a statement here an ANTF spokesman said: “The ANTF is making committed efforts to eradicate the menace of drug trafficking from under the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan. It achieved yet another success after it foiled a bid to smuggle huge quantity of Poppy Straw and Charas worth lakhs.”
The statement said, “The ANTF Jammu received specific information that one truck (No. PB06V-8987) driven by Satpal Singh son of Khera Singh of Bulla Gurdaspur, Punjab with criminal intention has concealed huge quantity of Poppy Straw and Charas in the truck which came from Kashmir and is going out of J&K. It was parked near Try Ground behind Wave Mall Narwal, Jammu. On this information, a case FIR No.15/2022 u/s 8/15/20 NDPS Act was registered at Police Station ANTF Jammu and ANTF team immediately swung into action and spotted the truck. During the search, 411 Kg of Poppy Straw and 1.550 Kg of Charas was recovered from the said Truck by ANTF team.”
“The accused was arrested in the instant case and the truck used in the commission of crime was seized,” the statement said, adding, “The Anti-Narcotics Task Force is investigating forward and backward links of this racket. Preliminary investigation revealed that the arrested drug peddler was going to sell the same contraband among the youth and other drug peddlers in Punjab.”
The ANTF requested the community members to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood.
