JKP Armed XI lifts 2nd Hamdard Premier League tournament trophy

RAMBAN, Dec 29: The JKP's Armed XI clinched the 2nd Hamdard Premier League trophy and won a prize of Rs 80,000 by defeating the Hamdard Club by 8 wickets in final match of tournament held at District Police Lines ground.
Winning the toss and batting first, the Hamdard Club team was all out for 129 runs in 19.5 overs. The target was achieved by Armed XI in only ten overs by losing only two wickets.
The runners up team Hamdard Club was awarded Rs.40,000 and the trophy.
All-rounder Ishtiak Robi of Armed XI was declared Man of the Match for scoring 59 runs and taking a wicket, while Allrounder Muzamil Khalil Dar of Rising Star Gool was named as Man of the Series as well as best batsman and all-rounder . He was awarded Rs 5,000.
Asif Tantray of Hamdard Club was declared as best bowler and Mustafiz Bali of Hamdard Club as best Wicketkeeper.
As many as 64 teams including teams of JKP, IRP, RDD and Revenue Department involving 1024 players from across Ramban district participated in the tournament.
Organiser, Owais Kalbi, who is also the founder member of Team Hamdard, an NGO, informed that the tournament was organized under the aegis of the Deputy Commissioner, Ramban, Massarast Islam to engage youth in right direction and Keep them away from drugs and antisocial activities besides inculcating among them the sportsmanship, physical fitness and communal harmony.
The Chief Guest and other dignitaries including Additional SP, Rajni Sharma, Assistant Commissioner Revenue, Gias-ul-haq and Dy Commandant, IRP 16, Rayaz Tantray distributed prizes among winners and outstanding performers.
Speaking to media men, ASP, Rajni Sharma lauded the efforts of NGO, Team Hamdard for successfully organizing the second consecutive tournament.
She said that the credit goes to District and Police Administration Ramban especially former SSP, Ramban Mohita Sharma for developing and maintaining the ground where the local youth are allowed to play cricket and other games so that their latent talent is exposed.
She hoped that many more such games at a much higher level will be held in future.
