Authorities issue avalanche warning in J&K | | | Early Times Report
Srinagar, Jan 27: In view of recent fresh snowfall in upper catchments, authorities in Jammu and Kashmir issued avalanche warning in four districts of the Union Territory on Friday. The State Disaster Management Authority (SDMA) in a statement issued here said an avalanche with Low Danger level is likely to occur above 2250 metres above sea level over north Kashmir district of Kupwara in next 24 hours. Avalanche with Medium Danger” Level is likely to occur above 2500 metres above sea level over north Kashmir district of Bandipora, Baramula and central Kashmir district of Ganderbal in next 24 hours. People living in these areas are advised to take precautions and avoid venturing in the avalanche prone areas, the statement added. Major parts, including upper reaches of Jammu and Kashmir received moderate to heavy snowfall during the past few days causing avalanche threat to the people living in prone areas. |
