Teacher turns terrorist | | | In a major breakthrough in twin blasts at Narwal Jammu, police have arrested a teacher-turned-LeT terrorist. A resident of Reasi, the accused was posted at Government Middle School Phajilla in the Barnsal area of Ghulabgarh of the district. Initial police investigations, as per police have revealed that was involved in terror activities for a long time. Also all the recent attacks in Jammu region have been done at the behest of “handlers from across the border” whose aim is to revive terrorism and harm the communal harmony and brotherhood in the Union territory. Pertinently the terrorist had burnt all the evidence, be it his clothes, shoes and that he even set ablaze his mobile phone as well. But police worked hard on even small inputs and leads that led to his arrest. The police are also working out on various clues to find out those involved in two incidents in Dhangri village in the border district of Rajouri on the new year and a day later in which seven innocent people lost lives while as many others were injured. These two incidents as well as some others, most in Jammu region, clearly are aimed at disturbing peace. The top leadership of the country and local police have been asserting that Pakistan continues to aid and abet terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir. Country’s External Affairs Minister earlier said that India wanted good neighbourly relations with everybody, but this did not mean “excusing or looking away or rationalising terrorism.” The country is itself marred by problem of terrorism and only on Monday, a suicide bombing at a mosque in Peshawar snuffed out more around lives, with Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) claiming responsibility for the deadly strike. The outlawed terror group has proclaimed that it carried out the attack to avenge the death of TTP commander Umar Khalid Khurasani, who was killed in Afghanistan in August last year. The incidents of terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir make it evident that Pakistan continues to aid and abet terrorism. While the neighboring country is unlikely to give up its old policy of aiding and abetting terrorism, the security establishment must continue with the efforts to prevent acts of terrorism. |
