Minimum temperature dips in Kashmir amid wet forecast | | | Early Times Report
Srinagar, Feb 8: Minimum temperature dips at most places in Kashmir valley on Wednesday even as Meteorological Department forecast light snowfall at isolated places over higher reaches of J&K during the next 24 hours. There could be widespread light to moderate Snowfall/Rain in Jammu & Kashmir with chances of heavy Snowfall over higher reaches from afternoon of February 9 till February 10, MeT predicts. Currently the weather in Kashmir valley is cloudy and clear in Jammu region. Srinagar, the summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir, recorded a low of minus 0.1 degree Celsius against 2.7 degree Celsius. It was 0.3 degree Celsius above normal during this period of the season. Qazigund on Srinagar-Jammu national highway recorded at minus 1.8 degree Celsius against 0.4 degree Celsius. It was 0.3 degree Celsius below normal during this period of the year. The temperature shows an improvement in the ski resort of Gulmarg in north Kashmir recorded at minus 6.5 degree Celsius on Wednesday against minus 7.0 degree Celsius. It was 0.2 degree above normal for the tourist resort during this period of the season. Tourist hot spot of Pahalgam in south Kashmir plunged to minus 7.6 degree Celsius against minus 5.9 the previous night. It was 1.4 degree Celsius below normal during this period of the season for the valley of shepherds. Kokernag had a low of minus 0.1 degree Celsius which was 1.9 degree above normal during this period of the season for the picnic spot of south Kashmir. The frontier Kashmir district of Kupwara had a low of minus 1.9 degree Celsius on Wednesday against minus 1.0 degree Celsius a day ago. It was 0.1 degree above normal during this period of the season, MeT office said. |
