Natrang's UK representative meets head of Birmingham Repertory Theatre | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Feb 16: Natrang's England representative Aarushi Thakur Rana met Rachael Thomas, the Executive Director and the CEO of The Rep theatre UK and presented her a book on Balwant Thakur. The book on Balwant Thakur has recently been published in Mauritius on his theatre journey and how he has brought Indian theatre to the international limelight through his innovative theatre productions. This book is a narrative on his fantastic inspiring journey as a playwright, theatre director and a cultural administrator. His experience is the rare combination in a person who possesses immense creative skills and administrative acumen. Despite having post-graduation in Law and Journalism he completed two national and one international research fellowships in creativity and culture. Looking at his consistency and steady growth in career, he has set an example that nothing seems to be impossible to achieve. Aimed at exploring the possibilities of collaboration with the globally known theatre company The Rep, the meeting of Aarushi Thakur Rana with Ms. Rachael Thomas focussed on UK-India collaboration where creative works from India can be presented to the Indian diaspora and the UK audience. Natrang Jammu has already held it's presentations successfully in the UK including at the Trafalgar Square, London. While the book was presented to The Rep, talks were also initiated to bring a production from Natrang Jammu to Birmingham (UK). Natrang has previously performed in countries like Russia, Germany, UAE, Kyrgyzstan and England in recent times and post covid this will be the first collaboration with an international theatre group. The Rep is the biggest producing theatre in Birmingham which presents a wide range of cultural activities every year.They create inclusive, exciting, and exceptional theatre by, with and for Birmingham and the wider world. It has three auditoriums, The House with 825 capacities, The Studio with 300 seats and The Door with 140 seats much of which goes on to tour nationally and internationally.The Rep was very keen to set up a Natrang is keen to establish a relationship with The Rep where it can open a window to cultural exchange between India and UK. |
