Farooq demands rehabilitation for landslide affected families of Ganderbal | | | Early Times Report SRINAGAR, Feb 21: National Conference President and Member Parliament Farooq Abdullah on Tuesday demanded rehabilitation of the families affected by the landslides at central Kashmir's Ganderbal district. Several residential houses and cowsheds were damaged due a massive mudslide that took place at Rezin Gagangeer area of Ganderbal on Sunday evening. While there was no loss of life in the landslide, nearly two dozen animals perished in the landslide. The former chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir Farooq Abdullah visited Rezin today and interacted with the affected families. He demanded proper rehabilitation for the people who suffered due to the landslides and lost all their belongings including houses and livestock. “We should provide all sorts of help to the affected people at the earliest”, Abdullah told media persons at Rezin today. “The authorities should select a piece of land where the affected families rehabilitate and they should be provided all possible material for the construction of their houses,” he added He said the loss suffered by the families due to the landslides should be borne to the extent by the authorities so that they should continue their living honorably and peacefully, Farooq Abdullah said. Abdullah alleged that the landslide was triggered due to the ongoing tunnel works in the area. |
