2 Kashmir terror commanders hiding in Pak, Afghanistan killed
Setback to terror factory!
2/21/2023 11:13:40 PM
Early Times Report

Srinagar, Feb 21: In a major setback to the “terror factory” of Kashmir, two of the wanted and designated terrorists, who were hiding in Pakistan and Afghanistan, have been killed in separate operations by unidentified persons.
The launching commander of the Hizb-ul-Mujahideen, Bashir Ahmad Peer was killed in Pakistan whereas Ejaz Ahmaed Ahangar was killed in south Afghanistan. Interestingly both of them had been declared as designated terrorists by the Modi government a few months ago.
Bashir Ahmad Peer was killed in Pakistan's Rawalpindi on February 20 evening.
An assailant shot at him from point-blank range outside a shop in Rawalpindi, killing the top Hizb commander who was wanted in India.
On October 4 of last year, the Union government had designated Peer as a terrorist under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act.
He was involved in providing logistics to the banned outfit’s terrorists, especially for infiltration into the Kupwara district in Jammu and Kashmir.
The other designated terrorist, Ejaz Ahmad Ahangar is believed to have been killed by Taliban in south Afghanistan. He was allegedly linked to Al Qaeda and Islamic State terror outfits.
Ahangar was wanted in J&K for more than two decades. Besides being engaged in his alleged role as the IS recruiter for more than three years, Ahangar was accused of building coordination channels between various terrorists groups, including Al-Qaida.
Observers look at the killings as “a major setback to the terror infrastructure in Jammu and Kashmir.”
“Both Pakistan and Afghanistan had been safe hideouts for the radicalized minds but the two killings will be a game-changer as the twin incidents have proved that terror cannot have a hideout anywhere,” said a security analyst on the condition of anonymity.
“Definitely it’s a big setback for the anti-India forces who had been wanting to keep the pot of terror boiling in Kashmir and would push the terror infrastructure into the Indian soil. Now things will change for sure and take Jammu and Kashmir towards peace and prosperity as envisioned by Modi Ji,” he said.
While the government is yet to officially confirm about the killings, the confirmation is likely to take some time. “Such confirmation are formally made only when the governments of the neighboring countries will formally convey about the developments. Such communications take a few days,” said a security analyst.
