Randhawa meets protesting rehriwalas, assures of redressing their issues | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Feb 21: Former Legislator and senior Bharatiya Janata Party leader Vikram Randhawa met with the protesting rehriwalas. The rehriwalas, who are working in Narwal vegetable and fruit mandis are on protest from the past few days after High Court orders their dislocation from the current place of their working. Randhawa also listened to the issues of the rehriwalas. The protesting rehriwalas informed Former Legislator that a canteen has been opened in the mandi. The man, who got the tender approached Court and got directions of getting the protesting rehriwalas dislocated. "The canteen owner is selling items on exorbitant rates due to which he might be facing losses", the protestors said, adding that poor people are working in these mandis and can't afford the eating items on such exorbitant rates. Former Legislator said that BJP is working for the poor and marginalised and will leave no stone unturned for getting their issues resolved on priority from the concerned quarters. However, Randhawa met Director Horticulture Vikas Sharma and discussed the issues of the protesting rehriwalas with him. "The protesting rehriwalas are feeding the people working in aforesaid mandis on reasonable rates since decades. Around 200 families are working in these mandis", Randhawa said, adding that dislocation of these protesting rehriwalas will put their and their families in dark. He asked the Director to raise the issues of these protesting rehriwalas in the court of law and get the dislocation order quashed so that they (protesting rehriwalas) will have some sigh of relief. Director Horticulture assured the Former Legislator of taking up the issues in the court of law for redressal. |
