Jammu, Mar 26: Duggar Manch in collaboration with VOW CLUB has inagurated two dogri novels of Dr. Surita Sharma in presence of Chief Guest Ex. Minister and senior BJP leader sh. Sham Lal Sharma ji, Gen. Goverdhan Singh Jamwal Special Guest and Guest of honour prof. Kulbhushan Mohtra incharge Nanaji Deshmukh Library and documentation department as well as DG's Nominee in the committee for purchasing of books in JKUT including Padmashri Mohan Singh Ji President Duggar Manch and Sh. Balwinder Singh Pawar President VOW CLUB at WRITER'S CLUB, K. L. Seghal hall Jammu (JKAACL). Dr. Surita Sharma has written "Moh-Maya-Jaal" Dogri novel for youngsters and "Pada-Karo" for children. She is the first female Dogri novelist to write children novel. Prominent dogri writer Sh. ShivDevSusheel has written preface for Moh maya jaal whereas Prof. Kulbhushan Mohtra has written preface for children novel Pada-Karo.
Speaking on the occasion, the Sham Sharma appreciated the effort of the author & said that the work of the writer will help the Dogri speaking people of Jammu region to know more about the language and encourage the children and others to remain connected with their roots. He exhorted the writers to work hard to promote the Dogri language and culture which is the rich heritage of this region.
Sharma Stressed on the awareness and unity of Dogras for the upliftment of Dogri Language. He advocated the inclusion of Dogri language as a compulsory subject in the government as well as private institutions of Jammu region. He said that unless Dogri is included as a compulsory subject in the primary schools, the sincere efforts of dogri poets and writers can not be fruitful. It is the only way to protect and enrich dogri literature, language & and the great Dogra heritage.
Gen.Goverdhan Singh Jamwal called for introspection, saying if Dogri has to be preserved and promoted, the first prerequisite is use of the mother tongue in regular day to day interactions. He said death of language amounts to the death of the soul and exhorted intelligentsia, artists and folk singers to play their designated role in restoring the pristine glory of this rich language in the larger interest of bringing Dogras together.
In his welcome address Padmashri Mohan Singh said that it is very important that today females are courageous enough to write dogri novels however the number is not satisfactory, but, is adding in progressive manner. We should encourage more and more dogri female writers to write in this field.
Program was conducted by prof. Shalini Ranaji.
Prof. Shalini Rana, Secerateay of the Duggar Manch, presented well prepared and elaborated paper on Moh-Maya-Jaal and Dr. Tarseem Kumar (Raina) presented excellent and well researched paper on children novel Pada-Karo. While speaking on the occasion chief guest sh. Sham Lal Sharma (ex.minister and senior BJP leader) told that Dr. Surita Sharma has done excellent job by writing two dogri novels and set an example for other females to write more and more literature in mother tongue.
Guest of honour, prof. Kulbhushan Mohtra, praised Dr. Surita Sharma for her contribution towards dogri novels. Perhaps before Dr. Surita Sharma no female has written Dogri Children novel, yet, he added. He indicated towards new education policy vis-a-vis mother tongue. Dr. Surita Sharma while speaking said that she has great honour for mother tongue dogri and besides these novels she has published twelve dogri research papers in international peer reviewed multilingual journals, four in national journals, three chapter in books , dogri-baal-sathiya-ch-baal-manovigyaan(dogri book), golu-molu(dogri baal kavita sangrah), vihmi-sadhi di dogri kahni ch naari di sathithi(dogri book), tataina ( dogri baal kavita sangrah), aao-khidchee (dogri baal upanyaas) and besides this she has contributed in the translation of two historical books titled A Saga of Sacrifices Praja Parishad Movement in Jammu and Kashmir and Mission Accomplished (related to A. 370) and J&K Praja parishad 1951- 53 . However writing literature is not easy for females, she added. Vote of thanks was given by Balwinder Singh Pawar. Some other dignitaries and writers present on the occasion special including Pt Kundan Lal, Prof Sushma Sharma HOD dept.of Dogri, Advocate Naresh Salgotra, Advocate Naresh Raina, Inderjeet Kesar, Ashok Angurana IAS, Team Jammu chairman Zorawar Singh,Usha Kiran 'Kiran' Dr Surita Khajuria, Rakesh Verma, Dr Sushama Rani, Dr Gharo Choudhary,Prof Raj Kumar Sharma, Dr Ashok Khajuria, T R Magotra, Randhir Singh Raipuria, Satya pal Gadwalia, M.R Jackson,Rajinder Ranjha, Roshan Bral, including Professors and Assistant professors of Dogri and dogri writers and students were also present during program.
