Jammu, Mar 26: Under the able guidance of Prof. Nazir Ahmad Ganai, Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor, SKUAST Jammu, a one day training programme was conducted on the Importance of Biopesticides in Sustainable Agriculture in village Kapoorpur of Suchetgarh block of Jammu district. The training was conducted under the project ‘Women Scientist Scheme-B’ funded by Department of Science and Technology, Government of India. Dr N.K. Pankaj, Prof. & Head VPT and mentor of the project, emphasized about the importance of biopesticides in present time and how it will be effective for sustainable agriculture including clean dairy production. Dr Vibha Raj Shanti, Principal investigator of the project, spoke in detail about how to prepare biopesticide from locally available plants and cow urine. She also emphasized about the harmful effect of chemical pesticides. Mr Swarn Lal Singh, a progressive farmer highlighted about the importance of biopesticide in sustainable organic farming. Literature pertaining to the biopesticide, was also distributed among the farmers. Similar kind of four numbers of one day training programme has already been organized successfully on preparation of biopesticides, using local resources at Suchetgarh (11/02/23), Jojawal (21/02/23), Rangpur (04/03/23) and Bidhipur (19/03/23). About 270 farmers families got benefitted during these trainings. The training programme was concluded with the acknowledgement to Dr. R.K. Samnotra, Director Research, SKUAST Jammu and Dr. M S Bhadwal, Dean, Faculty of Veterinary Sciences & Animal Husbandry for the facilities provided from SKUAST-Jammu and availability of funds from DST, GOI. |
