ERA delaying road connectivity to Wanghama, allege residents | Urge LG Sinha to order probe, see what happened to money sanctioned for road | | Early Times Report
Anantnag, Apr 18: Residents of Waghama in South Kashmir’s Anantnag district have accused Economic Reconstruction Agency (ERA) of swindling the funds that were meant for building a road in their area. Scores of residents staged a protest against the ERA on Monday and urged Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha to order a probe to know what happened to the money that was sanctioned for the road. “We had given our land to get the road connectivity but nothing has been done till date. The ERA swindled the money which was sanctioned for this road project,” the protesters alleged. They said that the work on this road project started in 2015 and till date it has not been completed. “We want to know what happened to the money that was sanctioned for this road project,” the protesters asked. They urged the LG administration to look into the matter and get it probed. “We hope someone will listen to us and get this link road constructed,” residents told Early Times. Residents claimed that the ERA is compelling the contractor to include Tulkhan Bridge in a project which is not in DPR. When this newspaper contacted technical director ERA, over phone, he said, “You have all the information about it, why are you calling me.” And dropped the call immediately. Deputy Commissioner Anantnag Dr Basharat Qayoom told Early Times that “action will be taken if anyone is found guilty. The work will start very soon.” |
