GLDM GDC Hiranagar concluded SVEEP programmes

JAMMU, Apr 19: GLDM GDC Hiranagar concluded Systematic Voters' Education and Electoral Participation programmes by organising slogan writing and an Awareness Programme on the topic "My Vote My Pride". A Seminar in this context was organised on 12th of April followed by a rally to encourage, educate and inspire voters on 13th of April 2023. All the activities under the Systematic Voters' Education and Electoral Participation program, better known as SVEEP, were held in support and consultation of Dr. Pragya Khanna, The Principal of the College. The activities under SVEEP were held with the objective to educate the electors regarding procedure relating to their participation in the electoral democracy. SVEEP activities also focussed on various online, offline facilities available to voters regarding ethical voting like how to cast vote, how to help the election machinery to prevent corrupt practices during election etc. The Election Commission of India has been preparing India's electors and equipping them with basic knowledge related to the electoral process since 2009.The programmes were held by Electoral Literacy Club headed by Prof. Rakesh Sharma and other members which include Prof. Ritika, Dr. Anju Rani, Prof. Ajay Sharma, Prof. Neha Bhagat and Dr. Arun Kumar. The programme started with a lecture by Prof. Rakesh Sharma who held that voters education and participation is a must to preserve the rich heritage of democracy of India. Ravani Jasrotia, Sushil Kumar, Mansi, Ankush, Palak, and Riya all students of the college also presented their views on the theme of 'My Vote My Pride'. Later a slogan writing competition was organised in which Ravani Jasrotia, Anu Sharma, Lalita, Ankush, Riya, Muskaan, Sushil and Preeti showed their participation with great zeal and zest. The programme concluded with the formal vote of thanks presented by Dr. Arun Kumar, Head Department of Sociology.
