Weather improves after rains in J&K

SRINAGAR, Apr 21: Weather improves after days of incessant rains amid drop in the mercury in Jammu and Kashmir on Friday.
The Meteorological Department predicts mainly dry weather with scattered to fairly widespread light rain or snow over Jammu and Kashmir during the next 24 hours.
Kashmir valley experienced intermittent rains during the past several days while upper reaches received fresh snowfall disrupting normal activities and brought down the temperature.
Sun appeared in Srinagar today after several days of wet weather much to the delight of the people and tourists.
Regarding the rainfall, the MeT office said Srinagar received 0.7mm, Qazigund had 14.6mm of rainfall, Pahalgam 9.0mm, Kupwara 16.0mm, Kokernag 3.2mm and Gulmarg 8.6mm during the past 24 hours till 0830hours today.
Srinagar recorded a low of 6.2 degree Celsius against 7.9 degree Celsius the previous night and it was 2.7 degree Celsius below normal for the summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir during this period of the season.
The maximum temperature was recorded 7.1 degree Celsius below normal in Srinagar on Wednesday against 21.1 degree Celsius forcing people and tourists to wear warm clothes.
Qazigund recorded a minimum of 4.4 degree Celsius against 7.2 degree Celsius the previous day which was 3.1 degree Celsius below normal for the gateway of Kashmir
Pahalgam recorded a low of 3.5 degree Celsius against 2.6 degree Celsius a day ago and it was 0.5 degree Celsius below normal for the famous tourist spot.
Kokernag had a low of 3.7 degree Celsius 6.2 degree Celsius and it was 3.9 degree Celsius below normal while Kupwara recorded a low of 4.4 degree Celsius against 6.8 degree Celsius and it was 3.2 degree Celsius below normal for the frontier district.
Gulmarg in north Kashmir recorded a low of minus 1.0 degree Celsius against minus 0.6 degree Celsius the previous night. It was 4.3 degree Celsius below normal for the ski resort on Friday, the MeT office said
