Jammu Health Department headless for past 23 days | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Apr 23: Notwithstanding claims of the higher-ups to provide governance to the people, the Union Territory administration has failed to appoint new Director Health Services even after the passing of 23 days. Highly placed sources said that it was all due to a lack of consensus among higher-ups in the administration no decision has been taken to the new Director Health Services. “All the potential candidates have the backing of different groups are in the race for this important post so higher-ups have yet not finalized any name”, sources said, adding, “Instead of taking any decision on the name of Director Health Services higher-ups is trying to adopt casual approach” Interestingly, Union Government has already sounded alert due to a spike in COVID cases but those at the helm of the affairs in J&K have yet to take the issue seriously. As reported earlier, on March 31, Dr. Saleem-ur-Rehman Director Health Services Jammu attained superannuation. As per tradition and keeping in view the importance of the department earlier it was routine to appoint a new director a week before the retirement of the incumbent director but this time appointment has not been made even after the retirement of the director. Interestingly authorities have neither appointed new Director Health Services nor given charge of Director Health Services to any officers. Dr. Saleem-ur-Rehman was looking after the charge of Director Health Services. He was actually appointed as Director General Family Welfare. |
