Early Times Report
JAMMU, Apr 25: Chief Jyotishacharya and head of Shri Kailakh Jyotish and Vedic Sansthan Trust (Registered), Mahant Rohit Shastri, appealed to Acharya Mahamandaleshwar Swami Vishwatma Nand Saraswati Ji Maharaj and former minister Sham Lal Sharma to establish a well-equipped Sanskrit Gurukul in Kashmir during a meeting held in Srinagar. Shastri stated that due to the shortage of Sanskrit Gurukuls in Jammu and Kashmir, students interested in learning Sanskrit are facing difficulties. He appealed to Acharya Mahamandaleshwar Swami Vishwatma Nand Saraswati Ji Maharaj to establish a Sanskrit Gurukul in Jammu and Kashmir, stating that it could lead to the restoration of the lost glory of Sanskrit in the state. Shastri further emphasized the need for discussing responsible factors for the development of the Sanskrit language in the state, to achieve positive outcomes. Although the cities of Jammu and Kashmir are famous for their temples, Sanskrit students face a shortage of resources and opportunities.
On this occasion, former minister Sham Lal Sharma said that the land of Jammu and Kashmir has been the center of Sanatan Dharma . It is on this holy land that the founder of the philosophy of Pratyabhijna Darshan, Acharya Abhinavgupta, the great poet Kalhana, the great poet Vilhana, and many ancient Sanskrit scholars were born. These acharyas not only made India but also the entire world commendable for their acts of tapas, which promoted unity. However, the sacred land of Jammu and Kashmir has gradually being declined from Sanskrit. He appreciated Mahant Rohit Shastri ji for giving a good suggestion that a well equipped Sanskrit Gurukul should come up in valley to revive the great historical past of this beautiful sacred land .
On this occasion, Rohit Shastri presented the book "Dharmasthali" to Atal Peethadhishwar Acharya Mahamandaleshwar Swami Vishwatmanand Saraswati Ji Maharaj.
