JAMMU, Apr 25: 'Raswanti'- a literary event of poetry and short stiry recitation, and informal meeting of the executive committee of Hindi Sahitya Mandal, Jammu (HSM.J) was organized at the residence of Smt. Rama Pandey, at Tawi Vihar, Sidhra, Jammu, on the request of versatile personality, literature lover, writer, actor and producer Rama Pandey.
The poets and members of the executive committee of HSM.J were given warm welcome with Aarti, Tilak and flowers, performing traditional customs with great respect by Rama Pandey. Everyone present in this meeting recited his/ her creation. The well known poets of Jammu & Kashmir who recited their poetry in the meeting, included Dr. Nirmal Vinod, Shamindra Sharma, Sanjeev Bhasin, Pawan Khajuria, Rakesh Abrol, M S Kaamra, Shyam Juneja, Sudhir Mahajan, Uma Sharma, Manto Dutta Sharma, Dr. Chanchal Dogra and Vijaya Thakur, and and Rama Pandey herself. Prof. Kiran Bakshi recited her short story.
It was a very nice combination of poetry and short story recitation with River Tawi's charm from a well- organized lawn behind the house, amid a view of Vaishno Devi's hill range and expansion of the greenery of the forest on the other side. It was a rich view of the open Natural beauty of the spot.
It may be mentioned here that Rama Pandey was in Jammu recently. She has played the role of lead actress in many popular plays. She has written, produced, and directed all her shows, documentaries, tele- films, and serials. Apart from Doordarshan and Aakashwani, she has been associated and worked with BBC Hindi, Voice of America, CBC Canada, and Radio Netherland TV Centre Holland. For her contribution to the field of theatre and TV, she has been honoured with many national and international awards.
Rama Pandey has her four of her siblings, all well- known names in their fields viz. Actress and Singer Ila Arun, Advertising Stalwart Piyush Pandey, AD- man Prasoon Pandey, and Author Tripti Pandey. She is the Founder of Rama Theatre Natya Vidya (RATNAV) and Montage Films. She started her career as a child artist in Jaipur, where she was born and brought up.
