Kishtwar, May 3: As a part of “drug free Kishtwar”, District Police Kishtwar in a major strike on Drug Peddlers today booked 2 notorious drug peddlers of Kishtwar Town and search of their houses were conducted on the bases of the search warrants issued by the Court.The accused are identified as ,Jahangir Hussain S/0 Shabir Hussain zarger R/o Zarger Mohalla Kishtwar and Asif Iqbal Butt S/0 Mohd Iqbal Butt R/O Hargaddi Kishtwar. In this connection a case FIR NO 98/23 U/S 8/21/22 /29 NDPS Has been registered and investigation is going on.
In order to name and shame the people involved in drug trafficking, Kishtwar police also make drum beating at key places announcing the names of the accused persons whose houses were searched & accused were arrest beside also warn the people to deceit from illegal activities like sale and purchase of drugs.
While divulging the details, SSP Kishtwar Mohammad Khalil, the name of these drug paddlers also surfaced in many other cases of drug peddling during the course of investigation and found them as kingpin of supplying drugs to youth in Kishtwar Town added that 5 FIRs including today’s one stands register against Asif Iqbal Butt in police records.
He said that in view of their continuous involvement in drug paddling and simultaneously involving the youth of Kishtwar for drug addiction, it becames mandatory to book them and save the youth of kishtwar from indulging in drug abuse. SSP Kishtwar Sh. Khalil Poswal-JKPS while further sharing the details conveyed that Kishtwar Police is working on multipronged strategy to deal with the problem of drug abuse on one hand awareness programs are being organized in every nook and corner of the district.
Mr. Poswal while giving tough message for drug peddlers added that there is no space for Drug Peddlers in Kishtwar. Drug peddlers should shun the path of spoiling our generation and must return to mainstream otherwise they will be dealt with Iron hand. He said that after preliminary investigation of the bank accounts of the accused, huge transactions has been made from the accounts of the accused persons added that the bank accounts has been seized and further investigation is going on. He said that some illicit properties, purchase of costly vehicles were purchased by the accused and used them in transportation of the drugs.
“We have identified around 50 people through bank transaction who had either purchased the drugs for consumption or for sale from the accused person including some drug suppliers from Jammu” said SSP Kishtwar. He said that Asif Butt was simultaneously operating from Jammu and Kishtwar and is the main supplier to drug traders in Kishtwar District.
He said that weighing machine, drugs, foil, injections was also recovered from these drug peddlers. General Public is time and again requested to come forward with any such information related sale and consumption of drugs anywhere in the vicinity should be reported immediately on 9906154100 helpline number, identity of the informant shall be kept under secret.
