Many seats vacant in engineering colleges | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, May 3: Notwithstanding tall claims of the authorities to impart professional training to the youth of J&K, a large number of seats remained vacant this year in the engineering colleges even after the Board of Professional Entrance Examination (BOPEE). The admission process for engineering colleges is going on but the response of the candidates is not encouraging. Reports said that in the recent past, the trend for professional studies in Jammu and Kashmir has completely changed. The students pursuing professional studies move out to prepare and appear in JEE Main Exams. Sources said that due to the non-availability of job opportunities in Jammu and Kashmir, students preferred to move out to pursue their professional studies and get jobs in the private sector. Recently some engineers without jobs have lamented the dearth of employment chances in J&K, claiming that the government has failed to fill open positions for them, leaving them stranded. A group of electrical engineers delegation claimed that the “unemployed engineers are receiving stepmotherly treatment because no engineer has been appointed in any Government or Semi-Government departments for the last so many years. Notably, the Jammu and Kashmir government has already cancelled the recruitment of Junior Engineers (Civil). The decision was taken after several reports of irregularities in the selection process surfaced. J-K government has also recommended a CBI probe. |
