Shia community members continue protests against Bukhari, demand action against him | | | Early Times Report
Srinagar, May 12: For second consecutive day members of Shia community staged a protest against president of Apni Party, Altaf Bukhari, for his remarks against the community. Protests against Bukhari were held at Abiguzar here. Demonstrators raised slogans against Bukhari and demanded action against him. It’s in place to mention here that a video of Bukhari making remarks against the community went viral earlier on the social media earlier this week and since then, members of the Shia community have been protesting against him. They are demanding that Bukhari should tender a public apology for his statement and he should be booked for trying to pit the two communities. Senior leader of Peoples Conference Abid Ansari had lashed out at Apni Party president Altaf Bukhari for his statement and had demanded that he should be sent to madrassa to be taught Islam. “It’s not for the first time that Bukhari has targeted the Shia community, he has done it earlier also. At that point of time we had ignored his utterances, but this time he has crossed the line by talking against our Imams. It’s unacceptable and we won’t tolerate it,” Ansari had said. “He (Bukhari) has hurt the sentiments of the entire Muslim community, not only Shias. He can’t say that if someone is hurt and I regret, he has hurt the sentiments of all,” he added. |
