Early Times Report JAMMU, May 13: Pinegrove School, Dharampur is hosting the AFS regional meet from 12-14 May 2023 for North Zone member schools and a myriad of esteemed representatives, Directors, Principals, educators and students from 38 prestigious schools are attending this mega event. AFS Intercultural Programs is an international youth exchange organization which aims at creating global citizens and becoming involved in social causes of their communities. AFS provides intercultural learning opportunities to help people develop the knowledge, skills and understanding needed to create a more just and peaceful world. Formerly American Field Service, AFS was started during World War I as a volunteer Ambulance Service for the Allied Forces. It has now developed into an international, voluntary, non-governmental, non-profit organization (Headquartered in New York, USA) and is spread in over 60 countries (including India) and has about 250 member Schools Pan-India. This meet is of the North India Chapter of AFS. The Chief Guest, Sanjay Kundu (IPS), DGP of Himachal Pradesh and Guest of Honour, Zahur H. Zaidi (IPS), IG of Himachal Pradesh graced the Opening Ceremony of the event and addressed the august gathering and shared their pearls of wisdom with delegates. AFS India National Director, Diya Badgel; AFS Regional Head - North Zone and Headmaster of SelaQui International School, Rashid Sharfuddin and Manager - AFS Sending & School Relationship Manjula Devi too graced the occasion with their noble presence. The soulful music and dance performances enraptured the audience and set the ball rolling for intensive and stimulating discussions centered on the theme 'Inspire and Imagine', by distinguished guests and renowned experts on global education. A session on 'In Matters of Leadership, Leaders Matter' was conducted by Lt. Gen. Surendra Kulkarni, Director, Mayo College Ajmer. Dr Sumer Singh, presented his erudition on 'Reimagining AFS' for School Principals and Educators. |
