Skuast-j organizes training of farmers for better Mango production | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, May 14: One day training programme on the “management of flowering for better production in mango” has been organized by SKUAST-Jammu under the NABARD funded research project entitled “Transfer of technology for management of alternate bearing problem through hormonal intervention in mango varieties of Jammu region”. The training was organized in the orchards of Rajendrapura, Samba where the farmers from the villages of Baguna, Simbal Bali, Bari and Raya were participated Dr Bhav Kumar Sinha, Associate Professor (Physiology) and Principal Investigator of the project, delivered a talk on the caring of mango fruits from abiotic stress conditions whereas Dr. Reena, Professor (Entomology) and Co-PI of the project, informed the farmers about bio intensive integrated management for mango insect / pests. Dr. Rakesh Kumar, Associate Professor (Pomology) educated the farmers about overall management of mango orchards and Shailesh Sharma, DDM, NABARD, Samba discussed about various programmes launched by NABARD for the upliftment of the farmer status. During the training, fruit fly traps / lures were distributed to the selected farmers and hands-on training for preparation of pheromone traps to manage fruit flies, mango hoppers, mealy bugs, was also imparted to the farmers. The proceedings of the training were conducted by Dr. Sonika Jamwal Associate Professor (Pathology) and formal vote of thanks were presented by Dr. Vikas Sharma Associate Professor (Biochemistry). |
