Awareness only way to prevent complications of cancer: Ritika Trehan | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, May 14: Sparkle women’s club along with KCV Diagnostic Centre headed by Dr Shikha Chowdhary in collaboration with Sure Diagnostic Specialized Lab headed by Dr Sumedha Mengi supported by Ritika Trehan, Chief Spokesperson BJP Mahila Morcha J&K UT, and GGF Socities, Rashtriya Hindu Kalyan Sangthan today organized free Cancer Screening & General Awareness Camp to mark Mother’s Day. In the camp, diagnosis service and tests like mammogram, bone densitometry, PAP Smear, PSA, Oral Screening, complete blood count and others were conducted free of costs.Prominent doctors present on the occasion included Pediatrician Dr Pooja Kawte,Gynocologist Dr Shabnam,Opthalomogist Dr Indu Gupta, Dr Jananare, Dr Bhardwaj and Dr Dimple Chopra. Speaking on the occasion, Ritika Trehan said,“There was a time when if a serious ailment struck a poor person, he had to sell his entire property and land to get the treatment. Our government has given thrust on several such aspects to provide healthcare for the poor at doorstep and at cheap rates under the flagship scheme Aayushman Bharat.She also appreciated the Modi government for establishing two Cancer institutes in the Union Territory one each in Jammu region and Kashmir region. Appreciating the organizers of camp, She said that in future such cancer screening camps should be organized more frequently. She also appreciated the efforts of private hospitals for bridging gap & providing access of quality health care services to people. She applauded the efforts put by Sparkle women’s club by adopting Pediatrics oncology ward at SMGS hospital and said that the club is working hand in hand with the government. Dr Dimple program head,member Sparkle said that people need to come forward for their routine check-ups not only in the camps organized for the purpose but also in the health institutions across this Union Territory as the Government has ensured enhanced facilities in these institutions including those in the remote and far flung aread. Speaking on the occasion, Dr Sumedha Mengi said that the objective of camp was to educate & create awareness about early detection in the public.The key to surviving cancer is early diagnosis and prevention. Stating the aim of the Camp Dr Shikha,director KCV diagnostic said that the aim of the camp was to motivate people and urge regular screening. Ritika also informed that other such camps will also be organized in different areas of Jammu District so that maximum people are made aware and screened for cancer as early detection can help increase the chances of survival and treatment success in cancer patients. |
