Jammu, May 17: Shani Jayanti, the auspicious occasion of Lord Shani Dev’s birth anniversary, holds great significance among Hindus. Lord Shani, the lord of Justice, is revered for his devotion to Lord Shiva. Falling on the new moon date of the Jyestha Month, devotees gather at Mata Shri Bahu Fort Temple (Bawe), Jammu to pay obeisance. According to Hindu scriptures, Lord Shani, born to Lord Surya and Mother Swarna, is considered the ruler of Karma and is associated with service and business. While direct eye contact with Lord Shani is considered inauspicious, devotees believe that worshiping him protects them from difficulties during challenging periods such as Shani Saadhe Saati, Shani Mahadasha, and Dhaiya. Legend has it that Lord Hanuman rescued Lord Shani from Ravana’s captivity, and as a gesture of gratitude, Lord Shani promised to assist devotees who worship him. The event includes a program schedule from 6.30 am to 7.30 am, followed by a Bhandara (community meal). Join us at Mata Shri Bahu Fort Temple to seek the blessings of Sewak Shani Dev Ke on the auspicious occasion of Shani Jayanti. |
