Early Times Report SAMBA, June 1: Samba Police, led by Senior Superintendent of Police Samba Benam Tosh, has successfully detained and lodged in jail Deepu Punjabi, a notorious heroin supplier, under the Prevention of Illicit Traffic in Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (PITNDPS) Act, 1988. Deepu Punjabi, also known as Deepak Kumar, was involved in supplying heroin to addicts in Samba, Jammu, and Kathua districts. He was previously arrested by Samba Police, and heroin was seized from his possession. Notably, he was connected to FIR No.65/2019 under sections 8/21/22 of the NDPS Act at Vijaypur Police Station, as well as FIR No. 48/2023 under sections 8/21/22/29 of the NDPS Act at Vijaypur Police Station. Considering his repeated involvement in illicit drug trafficking, Senior Superintendent of Police Samba Benam Tosh compiled and submitted a dossier to the office of the Divisional Commissioner Jammu, seeking a detention order under the PITNDPS Act, 1988 for Deepak Kumar, also known as Deepu Punjabi. Acting on the dossier, Divisional Commissioner Jammu Ramesh Kumar-IAS issued the detention order, resulting in the immediate apprehension and placement of Deepu Punjabi in jail. Following the detention order, SHO P/S Vijaypur Tribhawan Khajuria, under the supervision of Additional SP Samba Surinder Choudhary, carried out the arrest and detention of Deepu Punjabi, a hardcore drug supplier. |
