Apni Party, BJP lock horns in Kashmir | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, June 1: Even as the Apni Party led by Syed Altaf Bukhari had been in good relations with the Bharatiya Janta Party, the two have locked horns in Kashmir while the police have filed cases. While the police on May 31 filed case against BJP leader Aijaz Hussain Rather, who is also a District Development Council member, for allegedly attacking two cadres of Apni Party in Balhama area of Srinagar, the relation between the two political parties have run into rough weather. Sources said the DDC Srinagar which is headed by Apni Party looks ahead to seek expulsion of the BJP leader from the council. As per the insiders, a dispute over construction of a road through paddy land triggered a brawl as both the parties have “vote bank stakes” in the area. The two wounded have been identified as Nazim Hussain Bhat and Imdad Ali Mir, residents of Balhama. Official sources said some of the “local henchmen” were issued notices by Jammu and Kashmir administration for allegedly land-filling agricultural land in Wani Mohalla, Balhama in violation of norms. Sources close to administration alleged that road was being constructed through the paddy fields to the business venture owned by a local political activist close to a regional party. Sources said following a brawl between the two groups, the BJP leader had filed a complaint against the accused linked to Apni Party for having allegedly attacked him. Sources said subsequently the Apni Party leaders filed a complaint against the BJP leader. “As of now both the parties are at loggerheads and have filed complaints,” said a source in the know of the matter. Police on Wednesday said that it has booked DDC member Aijaz Hussain in a case of assault in central Kashmir's Srinagar district. Srinagar police said, ” On the basis of complaint lodged by Nazim Hussain Bhat & Imdad Ali Mir, FIR no 51/2023 u/s 323,341 of IPC dated 30.05.” |
