Early Times Report JAMMU, June 1: The June 2023 Term-End Examinations of the Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) for various Academic Programmes offered by the University commenced today, 1st June 2023, without any disruptions. These examinations will continue until 7th July 2023. IGNOU has established 841 Examination Centres, including 20 overseas Centres and 37 Centres in Jails for Jail Inmates. In the Jammu region, 32 Examination Centres have been set up, which include four Examination Centres exclusively for Jail inmates in District Jail Kathua, District Jail Ambphalla, District Jail Udhampur, and Central Jail Kot Bhalwal Jammu. Additionally, there is one Examination Centre exclusively for Army personnel in Northern Command Udhampur. A total of 33,974 eligible students under the Regional Centre Jammu have filled their examination forms and are appearing for the exams, with approximately 1,91,181 sittings. The examinations are conducted in two sessions every working day, with the morning session from 10 AM to 1 PM and the evening session from 2 PM to 5 PM. No examinations are scheduled on Sundays and Govt. gazetted holidays. Hall Tickets can be downloaded from the University website. During the examination, students must possess a valid Photo Identity Card issued by the University/Government. Mobile phones and any other electronic gadgets are not permitted inside the examination halls. Dr. Sandeep Gupta, Regional Director, paid a surprise visit to the Examination Centres at KC College of Education, Akhnoor Road, Jammu, Govt. College for Women, Gandhi Nagar, Jammu, and Govt. M.A.M. College Jammu. Dr. Vikram Singh, Assistant Regional Director, visited the Exam Centre at General Zorawar Singh Memorial Degree College, Reasi. S. Tejinder Pal Singh, Deputy Registrar, visited the Exam Centres in the Samba Kathua belt. The Flying Squad teams expressed their satisfaction with the fair and smooth conduct of examinations across the region. "The local administration has been kind and cooperative in deploying security personnel at the Exam Centres to maintain law and order, and the Postal authorities are cooperating by accepting sealed parcels from our Exam Centres beyond working hours," said Dr. Sandeep Gupta, Regional Director. |
