Probe ordered in building demolition, CEO Kathua attached | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, June 5: Days after claimed to be an “illegal” commercial complex was partially damaged during a demolition drive carried out by the Kathua Municipal Council, the Director. Urban Local Bodies, Jammu have attached the Chief Executive Officer, Municipal Council and framed a three-member committee to probe the matter. Protest triggered against the administration on June 3 in Kathua town of Jammu and Kashmir after authorities attempted to carry out a demolition drive and partially damaged an “illegal” commercial complex. The Directorate of Urban Local Bodies, Jammu on Monday in an order said that in view of reports published/circulated in social media regarding demolition of a building at Ward No.6 of Kathua and law and order issue created afterward, a committee is constituted to conduct a fact finding enquiry into the matter to ascertain the veracity of facts regarding the procedure followed in related case by MC, Kathua. The committee will be headed by Senior Law officer, Waseem Shoket Butt while Amit Sharma, E0 MC Reasi and Rajat Abroal, E0 MC Katra are its members. The committee shall submit a report to this Directorate within ten days with all related papers regarding the case, read an order. It further stated that pending an enquiry, Chief Executive Officer Kathua, Santosh Kotwal is attached in office of Directorate of Urban Local Bodies, Jammu with immediate effect and Jodh Raj, Executive Officer, Municipal Committee Ramgarh will look after additional charge of Municipal Council, Kathua till further orders. The building owners alleged that the demolition drive was carried out without issuing any notice to them and they have also filed a plea in the High Court and the hearing is scheduled for Friday. |
