NC-PDP-Cong finalize seat-sharing agreement for LS Polls | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, June 5: Even though no official announcement has been made so far but opposition parties have almost finalized seat-sharing arrangements for the coming Lok Sabha elections in Jammu and Kashmir. Highly placed sources said that following the intervention of Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, three main opposition parties namely the National Conference, Peoples Democratic Party, and Congress have decided to contest Lok Sabha elections as per the seat-sharing agreement. Sources said that as per the seat-sharing agreement, which will be announced just before the announcement of the Lok Sabha elections, the National Conference will contest two Lok Sabha seats of Kashmir and one seat will be allocated to the Peoples Democratic Party. The Congress, like the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, will contest both the seats of Jammu province. In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, the National Conference and PDP fought against each other on three seats of Kashmir Valley but both the parties left two seats of Jammu province for Congress. On Sunday, former chief minister Dr. Farooq Abdullah Sunday said that National Conference is ready to take part in assembly elections whenever it will be held and hinted that party is “considering over alliance” in the upcoming polls in order to throw the party out which is spreading hatred and divide. “I don’t know about other parties but our party NC is ready to take part in assembly elections whenever it will be held. We are also thinking about alliance in upcoming polls as we have to throw the party out that is leading us towards hatred and divide,” a Kashmir-based news agency reported while quoting Dr. Farooq Abdullah. |
